Garden
Our garden is not only a foodsource but also a place where we relax, a place where we recharge our batteries when we are tired of work and the city. Especially in summer we spend a lot of time in our garden and therefore we treat it like our living room: we want to feel good and comfortable.
One of our „garden pillars“ is permaculture. We try to arrange our garden in a way that respects a natural ecological circle and balance.
The concept of permaculture originates from Australia. While we where travelling and living in Australia, we very often got in touch with people who used the very same concept in their own garden or farms to a different extent. It was very inspiring for us and the first thing, when we moved in our house was to manage our 300m2 garden through the permaculture concept.
In our garden you find a greenhouse, where we grow tomatos in summer, vegetable beds, salad beds, a compost, rabbits, that produce a big part of our compost, flowers and herbs that grow everwhere they want.
What we are trying to do is imitating nature and forest and produce our own humus which enrichens the soil and favours biodiversity.
One other important aspect are the wild and spontanious growing plants that sow themselves year after year like our cornflowers, sunflowers, stingging nettles or wild garlic. Every zone in the garden favours different plants, flowers, animals and insects depending on insolation, shadow, soil conditions and other plants and trees around.
In spring and summer we always enjoy concerts of humming bees, singing birds and other chirping insects. We created our own little paradise.
